Well, it certainly has been a while. If not for insomnia, it would even be longer.
We returned from vacation and have not had time to blog. We could have blogged during vacation, (plenty of free wireless access points) but we do not have a laptop…..oh wait we do now. We have decided to upgrade Debbi’s computer (the kid’s get the old one) and she decided on a laptop. It was her choice, but my job to find it. The thrill of the hunt. Well, I found a Toshiba laptop at Best Buy. Anyway, it is a really good deal at that price, so I got it tonight. I tried to buy it earlier, but the Midway store does not know to do it. The computer is discounted $100 if Geek Squad installs a free copy of Norton Anti-virus. Well, the software is not pre-installed, and this store wanted me to wait about 30 minutes for them to install the software. I did not have the time, and would try to get it at another store. This also gave me the time to verify a couple of details with Debbi.
So I go to the Plano store, when I have more time. First off, the price they have is wrong. It does not reflect the discount. There was a guy there (engineer) who was interested in it at the normal price, he went ahead and bought it at the Norton package price. (I should have gotten that sale, but Best Buy does not pay commissions) This guy mentions that he is going to install Linux on it, so he really does not need the software installed and asks if he can just get the computer (and the software) but not wait to have it installed. Sounds like a dandy idea to me. I ask the same thing as I am pretty adept at installing software. The store agrees and Geek Squad gets credit for installation as well. So, I got the laptop and did not have to wait an extra half hour. That’s the way you do it people!
That is all for now. We will commence live blogging soon and we will also blog the vacation at some point too. Life is busy and my satellite signal died for the last three minutes of LOST. I have to catch up on that as well.
