Upwards update…aka…do you believe in God(zilla)?

Well, it has been long overdue….I am giving you an update.  Trey’s first basketball game was this morning, so the upwards update.  This post will contain a little about the Edwards update, but do not be confused.  That is really Debbi’s job.  I do so much around here.

Debbi’s brother Dan, and three kids, stayed with us between Christmas and New Years.  We had a great time.  I cut back and only worked eleven hours while they were here.  More on that later.  Most of the time was family time.  They did go out on a shopping trip or two, but most activities were planned for everyone.  One day we went to Heard Museum to see some real mechanical dinosaurs.  It was really fun, and we ended up taking a longer hike as well.  During this hike the seventeen year old asks me something like, “Did man and dinosaurs exist at the same time?” or “Did God create us to evolve?” or “What is the  answer to life, the universe and everything?”  The first questions lead to a long deep theological discussion that lasted the better part of an hour.  Always be ready.  The last question is 42.  We ended up buying a membership to the Heard, so we can get in free now—up to six people..wonder if Danikan wants to see some dinos?

We also celebrated Christmas with them (on the 27th), had good meals, and one special shopping trip to Northpark.  It was my first time to be at Northpark after the exapnsion.  I must say those architects did a great job of tieing in the old and the new.  We had lunch at the Purple Cow and then off to the movies to see “A Night(mare) in the Museum.”  It was a pretty good popcorn flick.  The best lines included words like, butterscotch, lunchbox, snack shack, butterball, and  others.  I would recommend it.

Debbi and I did get a date night for hosting the Edwards clan here.  We went to Macaroni Grille (How do they keep the little pastas from falling through the grill?) and then saw “We are Marshall.”  Another great film.  I did ask if she just wanted to drive around in a quiet car for two hours.  It was a tough choice, but we went to the movie instead.

We had Sunday brunch with them as they were leaving town.  That was nice and we got back home in time to host are annual New Year’s eve party with RC and SB.  They spent the night, exchanged geeky gifts, and had a good time.

I have a major project at work due the 9th.  I have been working 13-14 hour days to complete this phase of it.  The whole project is not due intil the 25th, I think.  I am eyeball deep in AutoCAD, computers, a company laptop, half size sets, etc.  Trey has Pinewood Derby next weekend.  He has chosen to skip it this year.  I would up in the corner sucking my thumb and rocking if I had that on my plate as well.  I wanted to help him make his car look like Lighting McQueen…Ca-Chow!

Now the Upwards part….Trey had his first Upwards Basketball game today.  His team won even though he did not score.  I am not even sure if he shot the ball.  I did see him make a pass or two.  Most of the time he was in some scrap for the ball.  This usually ended up with him on the floor.  He has not enjoyed practice, but I think he had fun at the game.  After the game Trey was playing with one of his friends and was trying to witness to him.  Really sweet and cute.  “Go Diego Go!”  Oh I guess that whould be, “Go Trey Go!”  Trey: Do you believe in God?  Friend:  I believe in God and Godzilla.  It has now been about eighteen hours since my last billable hour of work…must draw faster.
