casa Speer update

We are finally starting to improve the exterior of the house, well, mainly the yard. We have a big yard, a really big yard, a really big, empty yard. Not any more! Over the last two Saturdays, RC has helped me build a play set / play fort / swing set for the yard. We have also had them over for dinner those nights too, but that is a different story.

Last week we started early, like around 9ish and got the bulk of the structure built. It was not even partially usable, but the kids could do just a little with it. Well this week, we started later, like well after lunch, and we finished it. The play set is from a subdivision of cedarworks.com. It is made of round cedar logs, not square ones, and is much cheaper than any other cedarworks play sets. (They do sell a really cool play set for only $23K!) I will post a picture soon, but it is night time now, so the pic would not come out. The set does have a picnic table, which kiddos, from both clans, ate at on the first night.

We also started cleaning out the garage some by taking the old waterbed to the dump. We could not sell it, or donate it, so it is now trash. The other exciting news is that Fairview has eased its watering restrictions, so we bought a $50, ten gallon live oak to plant in the back yard. It is the first of about nine trees that we would like to plant. We have lived here for over two years, and have just bought our first tree. Yea! I joke about the twig of a tree that we bought, but you should have seen the $20 live oaks. Those were twigs.
