Who are you and what have you done with my Rangers?

Well, the Rangers just closed out a 4-game series with the Detroits. After losing the first game, I must admit I was not feeling at all hopeful about this series, despite the Rangers’ amazing road record. After all, the Tigers do have the best record in the majors right now. And our offense has not been the powerhouse it has been in the past – we seem to be facing not only a shortage of water here in Texas, but also a shortage of the long ball. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve loved watching the Rangers play small ball this year – but could we hit a FEW homers now and again??

But make no mistake, we’ve just taken 3 out of 4 against Detroit. This last game started ugly, and I had pretty much written it off – I mean, how do you overcome a 6-run deficit in the SECOND inning against the best record in baseball? Apparently with pitching, defense, and small ball. We managed to score 7 unanswered runs over the last 7 innings without a home run. Sparkling defense, timely hitting, and clutch pitching made the difference.

These are NOT your father’s Rangers. Perhaps there is hope yet…….

  1. Yeah the whole Baseball thing is all backwards…

Watched my Dodgers on INHD last night, and they beat the Giants 14-7… in August…

    Weird… just weird.

  2. The Dodgers give the Rangers hope. Dodgeballers were like 7 1/2 games back and then went on a tear to go up by a couple of games. Not sure if the Rangers can do it, but there is hope. Teams have come back from farther down in less time. The key is that the Rangers need to play .750 ball for the rest of the season. Time will tell.
