Well, it’s officially official.  Here is the copy of the announcement I presented to the church this morning:

In Paul’s first letter to Timothy, he encourages the young minister “Do not let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in live, in faith, and in purity.”  One of the blessings of being the Director of Children’s Ministries here at PCBC is that I get to learn valuable spiritual lessons from the youngest members of our church family.  As many of you know, we’ve been studying heroes throughout the summer with our children’s church.  A few weeks ago you heard our children share with you the songs we’ve learned as kind of our “theme songs” for this study.  Let me share with you the chorus of one of them:

I will follow You, Jesus
Because I believe in God’s plan for me.
I will follow You, Jesus
‘Cause I know for sure You hold my future
And You love me so

                I will follow

How could I fear what lies ahead?

Those words have been deeply challenging to me.  In recent days, I have sensed God calling me to take a step of faith.  Through much prayer and searching, I know that God is asking me to step down from this position.  Though I don’t fully understand, I know that God is asking me to obey Him and trust Him for my future.  Because it is my desire to be obedient, I am offering my resignation effective August 31,2007.

The decision to step down has not been easy, and is not one I’ve taken lightly.  I have already been in prayer for my successor and for a smooth transition to new leadership.  I know God has great things in store for Prairie Creek, and through this time of transition, it is my hope that God will raise up workers to keep the ministries strong. Though I don’t know what lies ahead for me personally, and for us as a church, I do know that I have nothing to fear.  God holds my future – he holds ALL of our future – and He has plans to accomplish great things.

For the past year, it has been my honor and privilege to serve Prairie Creek Baptist Church as the Director of Children’s Ministries.  I have enjoyed building relationships with children and their families, and have appreciated the opportunity to use my God-given gifts and talents to minister to them in this capacity.  I am excited about what God has done and is continuing to do through the various children’s ministries of this church.

Personally, I would like to thank you, my church family, for your support, love, and prayers over the past year.  There have been many challenges as well as successes, and I appreciate the way that you have encouraged me.  I am truly blessed to be part of such a wonderful church family.  Though I will no longer be on staff, my family will continue to serve and worship at PCBC, and we look forward to continuing to be a part of what God is doing through this church.

  2. Thanks for posting this Deb, its nice to read it since I missed it doing my last extended session. (I feel I should be announcing my resignation of that position. :D)

You’ve done a great job, and we’ve really seen God work in all sorts of ways through your leadership and direction. Thank you so much for all you’ve done, and continue to do.
