My Blog Ate My Post…

It did. It ate two of them. As Yosemite Sam would say, “Rissa russa rassa frassa”. They were pretty decent posts too. Does that make this post indecent? I am going to brag on my new phone, again. It just won’t be as good. I still don’t remember what the other post was.

My old phone was dieing a slow death, so it was time to get a new one. I have always been a Nokia fan, so I start with them. Maybe I should buy stock in them? Maybe not. I don’t do to well picking stocks. I have simple desires for a phone. First off, it must be a phone. I use my phone as a phone. Not as a camera, not as a GPS, not as something to read email on, not something to watch videos on, not something to play games on, just a phone. Oh, thinner is better too. I want something that does not look like a man boob when it is in my shirt pocket. T-Mobile has been good to me, I have no desire for a $300 iphone, so off to T-Mobile I went.I have been using them for several years now and had a lot of brownie points with them. I looked at a few phones, and fell in lust with the Nokia 5310. I really wanted it as my new phone. It has a lot of cool new features, and was free. Well sort of. T-Mobile has an $18 upgrade tax, err… fee. I tried to negotiate my out of that, but that did not work too well. So I tried a different tactic. They were selling body armor, aka skins, for it as well. They were $10, I asked it I get one for free. They threw it in the deal. Cool. So the upgrade fee was really just $8 now. In my mind at least. On with the phone……

The official name for the phone is the Nokia 5310 Xpress Music. Why, because it has an MP3 player of course. I did not know how cool that would end up being. The phone has a much larger TFT display, camera, micro SD slot, USB and bluetooth connectivity. Please see the previous post about bluetooth. The best part of all is that the phone is extremely thin. Like Nicole Richie thin. The T-Mobile staff were very helpful in getting my contacts from old phone into the new phone. My sim card was not acting quite properly. That was worth the upgrade fee right there too. The other neat thing about the phone is that it includes a 1GB micro SD card and a USB cable. I was informed that most phones don’t. Kind of makes the upgrade fee more bearable too. That is about $25 I saved right there.  The first order of business was to get my wallpaper and ringtone fixed. I used Corel to edit my wallpaper and nothing to edit the ringtone. It plays MP3s. I loaded them on via USB.  Pretty snazzy.

I have fallen love with the MP3 player on the phone. I work out at Express Fitness. I usually walk in with car keys, water bottle, towel, ipod, earphones, and cell phone. I put all of this in the elliptical trainers caddy. The ipod has worked well, it is a tad bulky though. I can’t complain too much as it holds the vast majority of my music. (I still have CDs to rip.) Well, I can ditch the ipod now. In fact I already have. I worked out last week with the phone and it really is cool. The phone has a standard micro earbud jack, so it really is easy. I had loaded some songs onto it before, and playing them is a snap. I generally just listen to The Newsboys during my workout, so the 1GB card is working just fine. I will probably put a 2GB in there shortly though. You can never have enough storage, right? The work out was great with the phone, the only thing better would be getting a bluetooth headset. Well, that is in progress. Cordless is really cool. I expounded on this cool bluetooth topic in the post that was eaten. <burp> I also posted a YouTube video of the phone, but I won’t this time. The phone post has been re-posted, more or less.
