D-Day +21, South Beach beachhead **UPDATED**

The beachhead is certainly secure. The battle is being waged a great distance away. We are safe here. The battle is still being fought, but are casualties are few. We have lost a total of about 16.5 pounds. We are one week into Phase 2 of the battle. We knew results would be slower, but we still lost 4.5 pounds this week. Not nearly as slow as we thought.  We have successfully dined out at Chili’s and stuck to our plan. The chicken fried steak and mashed potatoes were very tempting though. I have dropped one waist size and am now wearing clothes that I have not worn in a while. In some cases just a couple months, in others much more than that. I discovered a pair of shorts today that I did not even know I had. They are a real nice pair of olive Tommy’s. My camo shorts are all but useless now. They were big on me before the diet. I guess I could wear cool boxers and cinch them around my butt. Hey, I could old, bald, and very cool! I have another pair that are close to that as well. Debily got a good laugh as we were playing keep away in the front yard. I had to keep pulling them up. Phase 2 is a much better diet. We can now eat some fruit, breads, etc. I still miss donuts, chips, granola bars, kolaches, etc, but it is doable. My first goal is to loose about 10 – 15 more pounds by September 22. That would out me down 25 – 30 pounds for the final weigh in, for the biggest loser, at work. At stake (steak?) is a pot of about $750 for the winner. I will probably go back onto a modified Phase 1 diet next week, for two weeks. I will cut my carbs serving to just one per day and see if that helps. Right now we have three.  We have just decided to start back onto the modified Phase 1 this week.  I have a pair of black jeans that I am looking forward to wearing.  They have not been worn in about two years or so.  I may try a test fit next week.
