I was in the Aggie Corps, but that is not what this post is about. 25 years and a couple months ago I graduated from high school. Yeah. Lake Highlands Class of 1983 had its’ 25 reunion last night. My understanding was that it would be a casual affair and somewhat informal. More like a bunch of people getting together, not a formal, organized reunion. Wow. I would say about 100+ classmates showed up plus their spouses. It was quite a large group. One guy just retired after 20 years in the Marine Corps. One slacker that I knew is a successful attorney. One genius writes the flight control software for the F-16. One is a cardiologist.

We met at the Ozona bar & grill on Greenville. It was a great place, but by God we are old. The music was just too damn loud. We had to yell at each other to talk. Our ears were ringing when we left. It is funny to see how the old clicks reformed at a moments notice. I ened up spending most of my time talking to some old buddies about D&D, computers, sci-fi, and more geek type stuff. I found out that a couple of LHHS alum, a few years behind me, wrote some computer game called Age of Empires or some drivel like that. Dire Straits Money for Nothing comes to mind. Another guy was offered to buy into the ground floor of a company. He was 16 and needed 8,000 dollars to buy into it. How many 16 year olds have $8,000 of venture capital? The guy had to pass at buying into Blockbuster. I would have too. I was working at McDonald’s at the time. I did not have $8,000 to blow on a business venture. I am not even sure my gross worth was even that high.

The weekend was a pretty good one. I scored four seats to the RoughRiders game Friday night. Debbi was hosting bunco, so it was just me and the kids. I even got home early that day because of the biopsy. Frisco gave up a seven spot in the second and lost the game in that one inning. The final was 10-3. It was fun though. A couple from church sat behind us, so that was cool. I let the kids play in the playland area for a while too. They burned off a lot of steam.

The best part of the game was the after game fireworks. Man were they good. The entire show was pushing 20 minutes in length, and we were right under it. They are launched right outside the ballpark. It was cool. They had many launched from a rotary launcher. That was cool. Several of the fireworks looked like a cascading waterfall. The kids had fun and fell asleep on the way home.

Saturday morning was spent preparing for the reunion. Hey, I had undergrown (ingrown?) all my clothes. I got a pair of jeans that are snug, so I have some room to undergrow (ingrow?) them. The best part? They are 36’s! WooHoo! Hey, I think they may be mis marked, but I will take it! 36’s! I got a whole new outfit: jeans, shirt, and shoes even. The jeans will be a good pair of transition jeans. I am not sure if they will be too big or not. It will be close. I still have 30 pounds or so to lose still. Tight 36’s may be too big at the end. This leads to the next diet update below….
