Wiggling, Coneheads, Popcorn, and Stage Debuts

It’s been a busy few days since I posted. I’ll start with our adventure last Thursday.

I went out to feed the dog as I often do in the morning. Usually, I am greeted with lots of jumping and sniffing and tail-wagging and panting and general doggie excitement. This morning, however, there was none of that. I faced a wimpering, shaking, curled up little sad puppy who kept looking up at me, then looking down to his leg and licking it. I tried to see what was bothering him and when I did, I felt absolutely sick to my stomach. He had about a 2-3 inch long gash on his left shoulder area, quite deep. The odd thing was that it wasn’t bleeding. I was afraid he had been bitten by a wild animal (we have coyotes and bobcats out here) – perhaps got too close to our friendly armadillo who is so graciously aerating our yard. Nope…after a day of being sedated at the vet’s, we were told that he apparently cut himself on something in our yard. A large plastic funnel now graces his head, which we can hear banging and bouncing off of everything within a 3-foot radius, and we anticipate being able to have the stitches removed next Monday.

On to Sunday…where I had the awesome privilege of escorting our new Tiger Cub around the neighborhood to sell popcorn. He looks so handsome and grown up in his uniform, and we had lots of opportunity to practice proper manners and salesmanship. In less than an hour we sold over $50 – only $450 to go until he earns his trip to the USS Lexington in Corpus Christi! We met a few new neighbors, and enjoyed beautiful weather to walk around the neighborhood – not to mention some much-needed mom & me time. Then it was off to church for Trey’s first production as part of our Praise Kids choir. We presented a program called “Journey of Praise” and it was awesome! The children led the congregation in singing some old praise songs (you know, old like from the 70’s and 80’s) and shared scripture passages in between. It’s a terrific, easy program written by Pam Andrews – check it out at www.lillenas.com.

Today, Crisana and I got some mommy & me time with my dear friend Christin and her big guy Brooks and new baby Berkelee. I hadn’t seen Berkelee since she was born in July so I enjoyed getting to hold her and talk to her. We checked out the new “Wiggly Play Center” in Frisco – a francise from the Wiggles organization (check out their original Aussie location at www.thewiggles.com). LOTS of fun. Christin and I actually got to TALK for about 2 hours while we caught glimpses of Brooks & Crisana running hither and yon. It was just the thing I needed – to reconnect with friends and forget about my crazy life for a few hours.

I’ve got pictures of all these events – if I can get Matt to help me, I’ll post them within the next few days.

  1. Yes getting in touch with old friends always put a spring in my step. Glad you had a chance to chat with an old friend. Wishing Trey all the luck with his popcorn sale.

  2. Yes, I see how you are with your other friends…but that’s ok…I have them too… Next time you will be calling me, that’s an order..:)

Glad you got to spend some much needed time with the other loves of your life. I am sure you have been missing that with work and teaching piano and all the other frillion and one things that you do!

Put us down for some chocolate covered popcorn! Yuuummm…
