D-Day + 5 weeks, South Beach beachhead

While the invasion is not complete, we are over one third of our way to victory.  We have substantial forces on the ground and we have a very large defensive perimeter.  Our goal is to eliminate 56 pounds.  We are 36% the way there with a loss of 20.5 pounds!  Yes!  We have vanquished over 20 pounds!  We are months away from a ‘Mission Accomplished’ sign, we may make substantial gains just in time for the holidays.  Weight loss has average about 4 pounds per week.  If I maintain that average, I will need about 9 more weeks.  That will be just in time to hit South Padre at the end of October!  Slim & trim on the beach with my bikini babe of a wife with me!  WooHoo!  Even though there have been some setbacks, family in town, too lazy to make yet another salad, the weight does seem to drop.  This is a lifestyle change, we just have to learn to not have these setbacks three times a day!

D-Day + 4 weeks, South Beach beachhead **UPDATED**

Resistance has been stiff, to say the least. We have been attacked by DTS award luncheons, birthday parties, Mike Sherman losing the Aggies season opener, more carbs than we can count, and the enemy has won this battle. There are casualties, but no weight loss this week. Our intelligence sources state that the enemy is continuing their attack tomorrow morning with a daylight raid. They are hurling Six Flags at us! How will we survive this onslaught? Funnel cakes, corn dogs, hamburgers, french fries, fried anything (not as bad as the State Fair though. I am not exactly sure how we will cope with this attack, but I know we will survive. We may have to restart again on Phase 1 completely next week. I am now wearing two old pairs of jeans that I outgrew, the jeans I was wearing now look ridiculous, and my belt has a tongue longer than my dog’s. Even though no weight was lost this week, changes are still happening, and good ones at that. This is not a sprint, not even a marathon, it is for life. The diet even plans for holidays, birthdays, and the like. I still would like to lose about 15 more pounds by 9/22. That is doable, but maybe not on Phase 2, but then again, that is the way the diet works. Going back completely on Phase 1 is not the healthiest route, but I could get some big bucks if I drop those 15. In any case, I am wearing clothes that I last wore two years ago.

**UPDATE**

My weekly reports come on Sunday, he end of the diet week. The official weigh-in is at the first of the week, Monday morning. I am down a half pound for this week, 16.5 total.

Something to think about…..

Today I am in Aggie colors.  Today is wear your team colors to work day.  This is in honor of the college football season starting.  I figured Aggie colors are better than Texas Ranger colors.  They are my other favorite team, but are tanking after the All-Star break.  That happens an awful lot.  Many co-workers have noticed that I have lost weight and / or noticing that I am wearing old clothes again.  I have been singing the praises of the South beach Diet.  There has even been some political talk this morning.  They also know I love Star Trek.  So, my co-works know what college I went to, that I have lost some weight, I like Star Trek, and a very few may even know my political persuasion.  Some may even know that I am a Christian.  Great.  Do my co-workers know Christ?  Do I sing praises of my Savior, or just the praises of my diet?  How do you preach in the workplace.  I hope my example is good enough.  Just something to think about.

D-Day + 14, South Beach beachhead

The invasion continues to go well, it has not been easy. Phase 1 of our attack has been a success. The beachhead has expanded, out waistline has not. We have met all objectives despite heavy, I mean really heavy, like fattening heavy, opposition. We have almost been overrun, but we did lose another 4 pounds. The enemy continues to attack. This past week he brought out their greatest weapon: gun disease. How was this a weapon? It foiled our strategy for Phase 1 of our attacks, but like wayword sons, we carried on. We had to bring in extra weapons of our own to foil their attack. The weapon of choice: The Atkins shake! It destroyed craving for Phase 1 foods we could no longer eat. It filled us up, so we could no longer go-go.

We no enter Phase 2 of our battle. This will be the longest toughest phase. We must endure our enemies attacks for weeks upon weeks. We still have over 40 more pounds to lose. We may have to endure the same menus over and over and over. Our battle plan lets us re-introduce some new foods into our diet. We can now have most fruit, whole wheat breads, and even sugar free pudding. Watermelon must be avoided at all cost. End of report.

D-Day +7, South Beach beachhead

The invasion is going well. The beachhead has been secured and ground forces deployed. We have sustained very few casualties, but we did loose at least 8 pounds. We will keep up this offensive for one more week, then slow down our attacks, but we will not quit until we get to our objective. The enemy has carried out ruthless attacks of bagels, donuts, kolaches, muffins, pizza, rolls, bread, and even fruit. But, we have held our ground and have not given up, even though the battle is making us weary. While the diet is going well, I just can’t get this out of my head….

YOU CALL THAT A DIET SOLDIER! I USED TO LOOSE 50 POUNDS IN A WEEK, NOT A WORTHLESS 8! NOW KEEP MOVING AND AVOID THAT POTATO, MISTER! KEEP AWAY FROM THAT BANANA! I’LL CHEW YOU UP AND SPIT YOU OUT IF YOU EVEN TOUCH THAT HOT DOG!

D-Day, August 4, 2008… Location: South Beach beachhead

Today we are storming the beach.  We are storming the South Beach to be exact.

That’s right, today is the official start of the South Beach Diet.  My goal is to loose in the neighborhood of 57 pounds.  That is a lot of weight to loose, and exercising just won’t do that.  It is gonna have to be a lifestyle change.  The diet is less than six hours old, and I have been doing good.  I hope to say that after six days, six weeks, etc.  The South Beach Diet is similar to Atkins, but modified to say the least.  I won’t go into details because you can Google it and learn better.  I will be leaving updates at least once a week.

It is a fight to the death, or life in this case.
