Happy Turducken Day!

Yes, we are in the heart of Acadia!  There are no turkeys here (unless you count us as turkeys), but we do have turduckens.  So, Happy Turducken Day!!  You can get a good description of a turducken from Cajun Grocer.  I’ll leave the explination for the experts.

We arrived last night and made pretty good time (Thanks to Debily).  The traffic on I-20 was really bad, lots of cars, trucks, and big rigs all trying to travel as fast as they can.  Once we turned onto I-49, it was a pleasant trip.  Debily drove the I-49 part…hmmmm…  We arrived just before ten and got into bed at a resonable time.  All had a decent night’s sleep considering the new beds, hotel, etc.

Today we visit family in Abbeville.  That is all that is planned, so we are playing it by ear.  I am glad that I posted before we left, so I did not have to post last night.  I had time too if needed.  The hotel has eathernet ports in all the rooms and wireless access in lobby.  They also have one computer in the lobby as well.  So we did not need to bring the laptop, but this is much easier in the room.  The rooms also have eathernet cables, so the one I brought will stay packed.  I was pleasantly surprised that they figured that one out.  The hotel also has one hour of free long distance per day, so we will stay here again, or at any other of their hotels.  Check them out at Drury Hotels.

My great grand father had a house built in Abbevillie in 1898.  That is the house that we stayed in for a couple of our trips here, but it is not really kid friendly, hence the hotel.  This is the same house that my great Aunt Doll lives in as well.  There are other Kitchell / Hagoods in the area as well.  One of these days I need to put this info into a family tree.  I have learned this info several times, but have never really written it down in a some coherant form.  That is why we are here, get some R&R, have some great Cajun food, and visit some family.  Avery Island is very close to here, the birthplace, and still the home, to Tobassco Sauce.  Something I do enjoy, but in limited quantities.

I am starting to ramble, so I will sign off for now.  Updates later as required.
