There’s marrow in them bones…

That was a helluva thing.  Today was my bone marrow biopsy.  It really sounds much worse than it is, or maybe not.  My appointment was at 11:00, so I got there at 11:00.  Ask my wife, I am very punctual.  The first thing was a simple blood test, but it was about a 25 minute wait. So, at about 11:30 I am ushered back into the bone marrow biopsy rooms.  I am not giving a detailed explanation of what they will do.  I will spare my Apostle’s (my 12 readers) details.  (Note:  Yes, it is pretty detailed.)  No drilling was involved, but there was a lot of twisting and pushing.

Your cancer is very important to us, please stand by…part deaux

Well, Monday was a big day.  I had my first visit to MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston.  I do like their tagline.  “Making Cancer History”  My head is still spinning with the amount of information that I was assaulted with.  The doctor I met with is a Hodgkin’s specialist, so that is good.  She went into a discussion on the differences between lymphocyte predominate Hodgkin’s and lymphocyte rich Hodgkin’s.  I was looking at the really cool architectural features in the exam room.  Wow.  All the info on T-cells, B-cells, C120? and whatnot just about did me in.  I held my own with Myers, but Fanale takes the prize.  I was a deer in headlights.

D-Day+13 weeks, South Beach beachhead

The beachhead is secured.  The diet is going well.  I have, at one point, lost 30 pounds.  I have no idea where I am at right now.  Do you really think I brought the scale with me on vacation?  Lemme see….this week I have had fried shrimp, fried fish, french fries, rolls, baked potato, pasta, hamburgers,  key lime pie, several margaritas, ice cream….need I say more.  Yeah, I think I have gained some of the weight back.  Do I care?  Uhh…no.  Should I care?  Uh…no.  That was just on the first day too!  I am not bulking myself up for chemo, but I think I deserve to get off the wagon during vacation.  I will get back on when I am home.  Maybe I should rename the diet to the Dallas diet.  You only diet when you are in Dallas.  Good thing I work in Plano, live in Fairview…….

Tomorrow is a big day in this lymphomaniac’s life.  I will hopefully learn if UT Southwestern is on target or not.  My appt. is at 10, so therefore I show up at 8.  Two hours to fill out paperwork?  Wow.  Sounds absolutely thrilling.  I am hoping to catch a Southwest flight home at around 4ish, but who knows.  I have the room for Monday night if I need it.  Tonight I am having dinner with my Dad’s cousin.  We just call her cousin Di.  It is nap time now.  Safe driving, Debbi.
