BOS: Apathy Edition

Posted by Matt  Published in Life, LOST, Star Trek

It has been over a month since my last post.  Have I run out of things to write about?  Nope, there’s plenty.  MY list of topics includes: other cancer treatment problems, my last doctor’s visit, Relay for Life, and other things.  So what will I post about now?  Complete drivel.  Here is a video linking two of my favorite things, Star Trek and Lost.

Lost: the sitcom

Posted by Debbi  Published in LOST, TV

Let season 3 begin! (finally!)

I have given up the girls’ weekly “Idol Watch” parties in favor of watching “Lost” at home with dh, and last night was a great reason why.  I will leave the most excellent recapping to mac over at Film Fodder, but I had to comment on last night’s epi.  (and I can hardly wait until mac’s review!)

The writers apparently knew we would need a very different kind of episode to keep the interest from waning.  I don’t know if they read fan blogs, but there are many Lost fans who are turned off by the way this season has played out.  Last night brought us back.  It wasn’t a great episode as far as revealing any mysteries, or answering lots of questions – in fact, the show asked many of the same questions fans are asking: do the others have more than one boat? where are Walt and Michael? where is Jack? why didn’t Sawyer ASK THE QUESTION to Carl? where is the Others’ camp? – but as far as fan interest and renewing the personal dynamic of the survivors, it was great.
And now, a brief rundown of my top 3 lines from the show:

3)  Nikki/Paulo: “Oh, no, we’re out of Dharma oat bars” “We’re out?” “Yeah”….insert meaningless drivel here…”I’m going to go get some bananas”

2)  Sawyer (to Jin after Jin says “good see you” in English to Sawyer): “Well, looky here.  Somebody’s ‘Hooked on Phonics’!”

And the #1 moment in last night’s episode:

1)  Hugo’s dad (to Hurley & his mother at dinner, looking at a gold statue of Jesus):   “That’s a he** of a Jesus.”

In all fairness, these were definitely honorable mention:

Jin, Sawyer, Charlie & Hurley doing donuts in the Dharmabus

Hurley reprimanding Sawyer for being disrespectful to the poor Dharmadrone found in the Dharmabus: “Hey, man, respect the dead.  That guys’ got a name, and it’s not Skeletor.  It’s Roger Workman.”

Hurley attempting to play Sawyer’s game with name-calling: “You red-necked man”

Dharma beer! (and you gotta love Sawyer carrying a case of it back to his tent)

Jin & Hurley pulling Roger Workman out of the Dharmabus and the head falls off: “We’ll get that later.”  Later: Sawyer: “Aaigh!  What’s a head doing back here!”  Hurley:  “Oh, that’s just Roger.”

And last, but not least, the meteor crashing into Hurley’s chicken joint & diamond bar.

All that stuff about Kate looking for Jack, with Sayid & Locke following her and finding Rousseau in the jungle…filler.  Check out mac’s recap later today.  It’s bound to be good!

I’ll recap Idol & Survivor later.  Gotta get my Idol picks for the girls narrowed down.  Guys going home: Sanjaya & Nick.

NaBloPoMo…….NOT!!!

Posted by Matt  Published in Life, LOST, Star Trek, TV

November was NaBloPoMo, and although I did not register, I did post each day. February is not. Neither is January. In fact, if I had waited a couple of more days, it would be a month between posts. I need to be a better blogger. There are even things about this blog that I would like to update, modify, etc. That will have to wait.

Well, work is going well, just busy. The first three weeks of January were 60 hour weeks with a sleepless night aboard an aircraft carrier in the middle of that. I think you can manage to read the post just two down from this one. If not, please just turn off the computer. This is just to difficult for you. What else is going on? TV is back. Heroes is back, Lost is back, The Unit is back, Survivor is back. BSG is back. The only thing not back is Jerico. That’ll start up soon, I think. So yeah, I have TV to watch. Probably should be doing something more constructive, like blogging.

The Island Spoke to Me

Posted by Debbi  Published in LOST, TV

You see an eye, a closed eye.  MY closed eye.  My closed, SLEEPING eye.  My closed, sleeping eyelid that flutters and flits with the deep, dream-inducing state that is REM sleep.

Then, suddenly, the eye pops open.

No, not really.  I’m still asleep.  But work with me.  Okay, so the camera angle cuts to my perspective, and you see me in a type of camp, on a beach.  Like a survival camp.  Like from a plane crash or something.  Except there are JEEPS and army transport vehicles driving to and fro.  Oh, and a waterslide.

So then, you see a bunch of us new people (we’re the ones with the clean clothes, who also smell pretty good) being herded into an army transport vehicle to be taken to some mysterious location.  The buzz around the place is that The Others are taking us to their camp.  Suddenly, John Locke appears and hops into the back of the truck with us.  Whew!  It sure is good to have a familiar face around here.  Someone on the INSIDE, who knows what they’re doing!  He’s a HUNTER!  He’ll save us!

So I’m feeling all warm and cozy while being bounced around the back of this cattle-car driving through the jungle.  Or maybe I’m just sweating.  Anyway, so we’re all wondering, “Why are we here?”  “What’s going on?”  “What’s to become of us?”  And then, Locke reveals the secret of the island.  The secret he discovered when he looked into the heart of The Island.  The secret he’s been holding inside for 66-some-odd days…THE SECRET IS THIS….

Dharma Initiative Tomato Catsup

Posted by Debbi  Published in Life, LOST

Well, I am not.

Unwell, I am.

Shiver me timbers, I’ve got the shivers and shakes and aches and pains to match the moans and groans of the sickness.  Pardon any rambling as the fevers may have addled the mind, and the pain of the throat has prevented me from partaking of sustenance (save for a bowl of oatmeal for breakfast).  In this depleted state, I bring you today’s edition of ketchup, Dharma Initiative style.

It’s been a few weeks since I last posted a recap of “LOST”, so you’re in for an industrial-size portion of Dharma Initiative Tomato Catsup.  But that’s how Dharma Initiative does everything, isn’t it?

Hostages, Hostages, Everywhere….

Posted by Debbi  Published in Life, LOST, Technology

Last night was the long-awaited and much anticipated season premiere of “Lost” and the series premiere of “The Nin9.”  In typical “AI” fashion (which I learned from Jon of Random Commands, eventually being promoted to “live guest blogger” status – WOO HOO), I will recap/commentary on both shows – hitting the things I  think are important, which perhaps nobody else cares about.  So, here’s your chance to get out before I get going (or if you haven’t watched either show yet)….
